Ahead of Trump’s Event in NEPA, DNC Launches Digital Homepage Takeover of Wilkes-Barre Times Leader to Hold Him Accountable for Failed Pandemic Response

Ahead of President Trump’s event in Luzerne County this afternoon, the Democratic National Committee today launched a new daylong digital advertising campaign taking over the homepage of the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader to hold him accountable for his failed pandemic response.
The homepage takeover will place ads on every available area of the Times Leader’s homepage today, reaching voters in the largest newspaper in the county in which Trump is set to hold this afternoon’s event.
These ads will direct voters to the DNC ad, “Pennsylvania Can’t Afford 4 More Years of Trump,” which highlights Trump’s disastrous economic record and broken promises he’s made to Pennsylvania, including how he got “played” by China during his reckless trade war and plunged Pennsylvania manufacturing into a recession. “We’re making sure voters know the truth about Trump’s incompetent coronavirus response and his long record of broken promises,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Over 8,800 Pennsylvanians have died from COVID-19, millions are out of work in the Trump economy, factories are shuttering, and President Trump simply doesn’t have a plan to stop this pandemic or bring back jobs from overseas like he promised. This election, Pennsylvanians are going to send a message: Trump has failed us, and we’re ready for real leadership.”
As Trump returns to the Keystone State, the Pennsylavnia Democratic Party will be holding a press call later today featuring NEPA residents harmed by Trump’s policies, highlighting his broken promises on the economy, health care and the coronavirus pandemic. On Friday, ahead of Trump’s events in the state this weekend, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party also held another virtual press conference featuring Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
