American Oil Production Hits Record High Under President Biden As Trump Tells Lies
November 2, 2023
In response to Donald Trump’s falsehoods about America’s energy independence during his presidency, DNC spokesperson Sarafina Chitika released the following statement:
“As Donald Trump lies about his own energy record, he has a glaring new problem: American oil production hit a record high this week under President Biden. The reality is, the U.S. is more energy independent under President Biden than it ever was during Trump’s disastrous administration — under President Biden’s leadership, America is diversifying its energy sources and lowering energy costs for hardworking families across the country.”
New this week: U.S. oil production is running at an all-time high.
Bloomberg: “Record-High US Oil Production Surpasses 13 Million Barrels a Day”
NewsNation: “US oil production at record high crossing 13 million barrels”
Under President Biden, American oil and natural gas production has long been on pace to shatter the levels reached under Trump.
CNN: “Under Biden, US oil production is poised to break Trump-era records”
“On [President Biden’s] watch, US oil production is poised to shatter all-time records set during the Trump administration. US oil output is now projected to rise to an average of 12.8 million barrels per day this year for the first time ever, according to federal estimates released Tuesday.”
Politico: “The GOP narrative has a major hole: U.S. oil production — already the highest in the world — is on track to set a new record this year, and will probably rise even more in 2024.”
Roll Call: “The Energy Information Administration estimates that this year domestic oil production will surpass its record high, set under the Trump administration, and continue to climb into 2024. Natural gas production, which reached a record high in 2021, is also expected to continue to grow this year.”
Thanks to President Biden, America is more energy independent than anytime in the past 70 years.
Forbes: “U.S. Energy Independence Soars To Highest Level In Over 70 Years”
Forbes: “Overall, the U.S. produced 2.5% more energy in 2022 than we consumed. By comparison, in 2005 the U.S. consumed 44% more energy than we produced. In conclusion, 2022 marked the highest level of US energy independence since before 1950.”
AJOT: “U.S. crude oil exports reached a record high in first half of 2023”
U.S. oil production during President Biden’s second year in office was higher than most years of the Trump administration.
Forbes: “2022 Saw The Second Highest Oil Production In U.S. History”
WUSA9: “The data shows that there were 4,082,478,000 barrels of crude oil produced in 2021, an amount that is greater than any time in American history, except 2020 and the peak in 2019.”
American reliance on foreign oil spiked during Trump’s tenure.
PolitiFact: “The data for crude oil and petroleum products shows that U.S. exports exceeded imports until October 2019, and they have remained in negative territory during most months since then. This provides some backing for the notion that U.S. energy independence is at risk, but not for the focus on blaming Biden’s policies.”
Trump claims credit for expanding American energy production and exports, but the trend began long before Trump was in office.
Associated Press: “The U.S. Energy Information Agency projects that the U.S. will start exporting more energy than it imports in the next decade, primarily because of a boom in oil and gas production that began before Trump’s presidency.”
FactCheck.org: “[Trump] suggested, misleadingly, that his administration was responsible for the U.S. becoming the world’s top producer of oil and natural gas. But the U.S. has been No. 1 in the world for natural gas for more than a decade, and tops in petroleum since 2013.”
