Poll after poll after poll shows that Americans disapprove of Trump’s coronavirus response. They know the truth: Trump ignored warnings, downplayed the threat, and failed to take decisive action early on, making the crisis worse than it needed to be.

A majority of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, and his overall job approval has plummeted as a result.

• A new Gallup poll shows that 54% of Americans disapprove of Trump and his approval rating has plummeted six points since mid-March.

• A recent CNN poll shows that 52% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak, and 55% think the federal government has done a poor job preventing the virus’s spread.

• A recent Quinnipiac poll shows that 51% of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus response, and 55% say he has not done enough. In fact, a plurality of voters give him a failing grade.

The vast majority of Americans say Trump was too slow in his initial response and worry restrictions will be lifted too soon.

• According to a new Pew poll, a whopping 65% of Americans say that Trump was too slow to take major steps to address the coronavirus threat.

• As Trump downplays the barriers that remain to safely reopen the country,  66% of Americans worry that restrictions will be lifted too soon while 73% say the worst is still yet to come.

Some of the words Americans most associate with Trump’s response are “slow,” “not enough being done,” “disorganized,” “embarrassing,” and “worse than most other countries.”
