As Pence Heads to Minnesota, DNC launches Digital Ads Highlighting Trump Failure on COVID

Ahead of Mike Pence’s event in Minnesota today, the Democratic National Committee is launching Google display ads reaching voters in Northern Minnesota to remind them about Trump’s failed response to the coronavirus.

The Google display ads will reach voters in and surrounding Pence’s events in Hibbing with the message that “This Administration Failed Us,” and will direct individuals to the DNC’s ad “Infecting Us,” which highlights how Trump and Pence are holding dangerous campaign rallies that threaten to worsen the spread of coronavirus.

COVID cases in Minnesota are reaching new highs, with over 133,802 positive cases and more than 2,300 deaths, including an uptick of cases in more rural parts of the state. After Trump’s visit in Bemidji last month, the state reported nearly two dozen new cases linked to Trump’s rallies.

Ahead of the visit, DFLers held a press call with former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, former Congressman Rick Nolan, and Minnesota labor leaders to highlight the administration’s failures on COVID-19, especially as cases across the country continue to spike.

“The reality of Trump’s record in Minnesota is unavoidable: spiking COVID cases, manufacturing jobs decimated in a reckless trade war, and now, even during a pandemic, he is continuing to attack Minnesotan’s health care and protections for people with preexisting conditions,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Nothing Pence will say today changes the fact that Minnesotans are sick and tired of his incompetence that is threatening their lives and livelihoods. And that’s why Minnesotans are holding Trump and Pence accountable by making their plan to participate in this election and voting him out of office.”
