Biden Slams Republican Plan to Raise Taxes and Sunset Social Security and Medicare

Senator Rick Scott has a plan for Republicans to raise taxes on half of Americans and sunset Social Security and Medicare. You don’t have to take our word for it – Rick Scott quite literally put the plan in writing, and we’re here to help President Biden hold him to account.

Last night, President Biden called out Rick Scott and Republicans for pushing to raise taxes on half of Americans and sunset Social Security and Medicare.

Washington Post’s Tyler Pager: “At a fundraiser in Portland, Oregon, Biden goes after Sen. Rick Scott, though not by name, and his policy plans. ‘If you want a copy of it, I will send it,’ he says of the plan, as he chids Scott for suggesting cuts to Social Security and Medicare.”

No matter how hard Mitch McConnell tries to hide it, Rick Scott – the man in charge of Senate Republicans’ campaign arm – literally put the Republican agenda in writing

NPR: “Sen. Rick Scott wants every American to pay at least some income taxes”

New York Times: “The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center estimated that ensuring all households pay at least $100 in income taxes would leave families making about $54,000 or less with more than 80 percent of the tax increase. Those making less than about $100,000 would shoulder 97 percent of the cost.”

Daily Beast: “At least four GOP candidates in the most important battleground states this fall have either explicitly expressed support for Scott’s plan or have campaigned on the political views that form the foundation of his platform.”

Washington Post: “But during the seven weeks of turmoil since Scott dropped a provocative conservative policy bomb on an unsuspecting party — a plan that called for tax increases and expiration dates for all federal laws, including those establishing Social Security and Medicare — he has not once expressed regret. Instead, the former hospital chain CEO and two-term governor, the richest man in the Senate, argues that he owes his detractors nothing.”
