Tonight, in an earthshattering victory for Florida Democrats and humiliating defeat for Donald Trump, Democrat Emily Gregory flipped Florida House District 87, Donald Trump’s home district which he won by about 9 points in 2024. With Gregory’s win, Democrats have now flipped 29 legislative seats since Trump retook office, while Republicans have flipped zero.

Tonight’s victory underscores that even in a ruby red district like HD-87, home to Mar-a-Lago, voters are furious with Donald Trump and Florida Republicans for jacking up their costs and ripping away their health care. In Florida alone, more than 1.5 million people are at risk of losing their health care because of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and refusal to extend the ACA tax credits, while families are paying hundreds of dollars more for the basics, including $140 more on electricity and $1 more per gallon at the gas pump.

A reminder: Despite trying to undermine mail-in voting, Donald Trump voted by mail in this election.
