Today, after Senate Republicans blocked a War Powers Resolution that would have put an end to Donald Trump’s reckless war of choice in Iran, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“Today, Democrats voted to end Donald Trump’s war of choice in Iran that has claimed the lives of 13 service members, injured hundreds of others, and forced prices to soar here at home. By rejecting this binding Senate resolution, Republicans have endorsed Trump’s war and greenlit the spending of billions in taxpayer dollars abroad while Americans struggle to make ends meet here at home.

“Senate Republicans had the opportunity to show an ounce of political courage today, and they failed. An overwhelming majority of Americans are against this war, but instead of being a voice for the people, Republicans chose to rubber-stamp the president. 

“This November, voters will remember what Republicans are responsible for: sky-high gas prices, war in the Middle East, and a broken economy that rewards the ultra-rich with massive tax breaks while everybody else gets screwed.”
