Breaking The Wrong Records: America’s Global Standing At A New Low
August 24, 2020
Nikki Haley just called Trump’s failed foreign policy a “record of strength and success.” That’s just not true. America’s position in the world has suffered from Trump’s lack of leadership.
America’s global standing has plummeted under Trump, weakening our influence.
Gallup: “U.S. leadership remains unpopular worldwide”
Pew Research Center: “As has been the case throughout his presidency, U.S. President Donald Trump receives largely negative reviews from publics around the world. Across 32 countries surveyed by Pew Research Center, a median of 64% say they do not have confidence in Trump to do the right thing in world affairs, while just 29% express confidence in the American leader.”
New York Times: “Souring World Views of Trump Open Doors for China and Russia”
In fact, our global standing has reached a record low.
Gallup: “Under Trump, global perceptions of U.S. leadership reached a record low with opinions of American leadership tumbling, especially among our closest allies.”
For the first time ever, America’s leadership rates even lower than China.
Gallup: “As the United States competes with China, the Trump administration sunk below China in terms of approval for global leadership for the first time ever.”
