Democrat Eric Gisler Flips Trump +12 Georgia House Seat
December 9, 2025
Tonight, Democratic candidate Eric Gisler clinched victory in the race to represent District 121 in the Georgia state assembly. By running a strong campaign focused on lowering costs, Gisler flipped a Trump +12 district in yet another Democratic overperformance this year. With tonight’s results, Democrats have now won or overperformed in 225 out of 253 key and special elections this year — nearly 90%.
Democrats also made history in last month’s Georgia Public Service Commissioner race, when Dr. Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard became the first Democrats in Georgia to win a non-federal statewide election in nearly twenty years.
In the lead-up to Election Day, the DNC supported Gisler’s campaign, including a GOTV organizing blitz to urge Georgia voters to cast their ballots for Gisler. This is on top of the DNC’s historic monthly investments into state parties, totaling over $1 million per month, as part of our mission to organize everywhere to win anywhere — including Georgia. The Democratic Party of Georgia also invested in paid media and heavily recruited volunteers for phone banks and canvassing.
Democrats continue to run and win on a message of affordability, while Republicans like Mark Guest IV continue to back Trump’s toxic agenda that kicks half a million Georgians off their health insurance and puts four rural hospitals on the brink of closure.
In response to Gisler’s stunning victory, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Georgians deserve strong, commonsense leaders like Representative-Elect Gisler who will lower their costs and fight for them, not representatives who bend the knee to Donald Trump and rubber-stamp his inflationary agenda. Tonight’s results prove once again that Democrats have the momentum across the country as we organize and compete everywhere, including in districts that Trump won by double-digits. Fresh off the resounding victories in the Georgia Public Service Commissioner races and now this historic flip, the DNC will continue to invest, organize, and compete in every corner of Georgia as we rebuild long-standing Democratic power in the Sun Belt.”
