Democrats Launch New Online Organizing Tool to Fight Disinformation
December 1, 2021
FightTheLies.com will serve as an organizing tool to combat online disinformation and hold Republicans accountable
Today, the Democratic National Committee launched a new organizing tool that will expand upon the DNC’s aggressive efforts to fight online disinformation and hold Republicans and their allies in the conservative media accountable. The centerpiece of this effort will be a new rapid response website called “Fight the Lies.” The website will serve as a one-stop shop for grassroots Democrats to get the facts on false Republican attacks so they can share with their families, friends, and online networks. This website is just the latest tool in the DNC’s comprehensive strategy to address disinformation and empower the Democratic ecosystem to do the same, which includes policy, education, threat detection, and countermeasures. “While Republicans are rooting against the economy and doing everything they can to prolong the pandemic, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are fighting for policies that will create jobs, lower costs for families, and make the economy work for everyone, not just those at the top,” said DNC Executive Director Sam Cornale. “Unfortunately, Republicans and conservative media outlets continue to spread misinformation in a blatant attempt to distract from their obstruction and refusal to do anything to help the American people. The DNC has made combatting online disinformation a top priority, which is why we are launching this new organizing tool to help us set the record straight on false attacks. By directly engaging with our grassroots supporters, we’ll empower them to help us fight disinformation by spreading the truth to their own networks in real time.” |
