DeSantis Doubles Down On Refusing to Help Vaccinate Children

Ron DeSantis is the only governor in the country who chose not to pre-order vaccines for children under the age of 5. After the FDA authorized the use of vaccines for young children, Ron DeSantis has doubled down on his dangerous position and continues to spread misinformation about the lifesaving vaccine, saying that the state of Florida is “affirmatively against” vaccinating young children.

Ron DeSantis and his administration have made it clear that DeSantis’s priority is power, even if it means putting children at risk:

DeSantis Spokesperson Bryan Griffin: “Florida is being criticized for not pre-ordering COVID vaccines for children under 5. @HealthyFla doesn’t recommend it. @GovRonDeSantis ‘Why are people so frightened about COVID in kids? Media hysteria and misinformation.’”

DeSantis Spokesperson Christina Pushaw: “‘We expect to have good data that the benefits outweigh the risks of any therapies or treatments before we recommend those…to Floridians. That is not going to change. I don’t think that is particularly radical. I think it’s very sensible’ – @FLSurgeonGen”

Florida’s Surgeon General: “FL never ‘reversed course.’ We recommended against COVID-19 vax for healthy children in March b/c there was no strong evidence of benefit. This remains the same for healthy kids <5. Providers have always been able to order vaccines. This never changed. Nice try, @WhiteHouse.”

DeSantis Spokesperson Christina Pushaw: “‘These regulatory agencies in the federal government have basically become subsidiaries of the pharmaceutical companies.’ – Gov. DeSantis in response to a reporter’s question about Covid jabs for infants.”
