DNC Announces New “I Will Vote” Text-Line to Ensure Every Eligible Voter’s Voice is Heard
September 17, 2024
Today, on National Voter Registration Day, the Democratic National Committee announced the launch of the National Voter Assistance Text-Line to provide clear, easily accessible information in English and Spanish so that voters can access all the information they need to register and cast their vote for Democrats up and down the ballot.
“This November is the most important election of our lifetimes, and we want every voter to make their voice heard,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “With less than 50 days until Election Day, Democrats are making it easier than ever to get all the information you need to exercise your right to vote by texting the Voter Information Text-Line, calling the Voter Information Hotline, or visiting our website at IWillVote.com. As Republicans attempt to silence our voices and throw up barriers to the ballot box, the Democratic Party is providing a one-stop shop for voters to get clear and accurate information, real-time answers, and live support. We’re meeting people where they are — click by click, call by call, and text by text.”
I Will Vote is the Democratic Party’s one-stop shop for voter education and information. Voters can check if they are registered to vote, learn how to register, register online if their state allows it, find their polling location, check requirements such as voter ID, and learn how to cast a mail-in or early ballot. The Text-Line, which will begin providing live support in the coming days, is the latest voter assistance feature of the DNC’s I Will Vote program, also available through IWillVote.com and the National Voter Information Hotline in English and Spanish, with additional languages to come ahead of Election Day. Voters can access I Will Vote by texting VOTE to 70888 or VOTO to 70888 for Spanish. IWillVote.com is also available in Spanish at VoyAVotar.com.
In addition to IWillVote.com, voters can access information and get their questions answered by phone or text:
- New Voter Assistance Text-Line: The Text-Line is available in English and Spanish and will be fully staffed with live support in the coming days. DNC staff and volunteers are available to provide information and answers to questions in real time on any step of the voting process — from how to register to polling locations and requirements to mail-in and early ballots. It also directs users to expert help from teams and partners on the ground when necessary. Voters can access the text-line by texting VOTE to 70888 or VOTO to 70888.
- The National Voter Assistance Hotline: The hotline is available in English and Spanish and is fully staffed with live support by DNC staff and volunteers available to provide real-time responses to questions and direct users to expert help from teams on the ground when necessary. Voters can access the hotline by calling 1-833-DEM-VOTE (1-833-336-8683).
Since the 2020 election, the DNC has invested more than $30 million to expand the “I Will Vote” initiative, including voter registration programs in battleground states and targeted investments in communities of color.
- So far this cycle, the National Voter Assistance Hotline has fielded more than 17,000 calls in English and Spanish. Since 2020, the national hotline has handled more than 150,000 calls from voters. IWillVote.com has been visited at least 30 million times since September 2020.
- This cycle alone, the DNC Supporter Cultivation team has created and distributed voter education materials for primaries in all 57 states and territories through email and SMS so that voters can receive all the information they need to register to vote and receive reminders around voting deadlines.
- This cycle, the Democrats have hired Voter Protection and Access staff in 21 key states ahead of the November general election to ensure any voting issues are resolved both quickly and fairly.
- Since the beginning of spring, the Voter Protection Team has mobilized over 12,700 volunteers nationwide, who will serve as poll observers, hotline volunteers, and serve in other critical roles to support the work of the DNC’s Voter Protection and Access staff.
- This cycle, the voter protection team has scheduled over 16,700 future Voter Protection volunteer shifts to date across nearly 1,000 events.
