WASHINGTON—DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement to endorse State Representative Sylvester Turner for Houston mayor:
 
“I am proud to endorse State Representative Sylvester Turner as the next mayor of Houston. For more than two decades, he has served the people of Houston in the Texas legislature with dignity, fighting for universal access to health care, affordable electric rates for seniors and a quality education for all. If elected, I am fully confident that he will continue fighting to make sure that the hardworking people of Houston have safer neighborhoods, stronger schools and better infrastructure. Houstonians deserve a mayor who will move their city forward, not backwards, and Sylvester Turner is the right person for the job.”
