DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:

“The American people overwhelmingly want to hear from witnesses. But thanks to the Republican Party, they’re being denied witnesses in an impeachment trial for the first time in American history. Voters deserve better from their elected officials.

“Every senator who voted against a fair trial is complicit in one of the biggest cover-ups this nation has ever seen. Their votes are both a dereliction of duty and a disgrace to democracy. And their cowardice has invited future presidents to abuse the power of the Oval Office without consequence or accountability. What a disservice to the American people. What a stain on the history of our republic. Republican senators are indeed servants, but not to the public. Today, they have shown once again that they only serve one person: Donald Trump.”
