DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:

“First Trump said he didn’t do it. Then he confessed and suggested he’d do it again. Now his lawyers are arguing that he can abuse his power without consequence. If the president’s behavior isn’t impeachable, nothing is. We are watching the erosion of our democracy before our very eyes. But Senate Republicans can stop it. If they allow a fair trial with documents and witnesses, including John Bolton, the American people can get the transparency and accountability they deserve. Anything less is a cover-up.”
