Today, thousands of Kentucky teachers are taking to the streets to protest the surprise pension reform bill that awaits Republican Gov. Matt Bevin’s signature. DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:

“Today, Kentucky teachers are raising their voices against a surprise partisan bill that puts teachers behind corporate interests. Pensions are vital for teachers and other public employees who dedicate their lives to the service of others. But instead of putting working families first, Republicans hastily introduced and passed legislation to cut pensions – and have proposed deep cuts to public education funding – so they can pay for more massive tax giveaways to big corporations. Democrats stand with Kentucky teachers as they fight for the pensions they deserve and the funding their schools need.”
