DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the Supreme Court refused to review a lower court’s order that requires the Trump administration to keep DACA protections in place:

“The Supreme Court made the right call today. Dreamers may have been born outside of our borders, but their courage is American to its core. That’s why President Obama created the DACA program, and that’s why it’s undeniably wrong for the Trump administration and Republican leaders to try and dismantle it.

“While today’s decision is an important victory, it remains urgent that Congress permanently protect Dreamers. Democrats believe that diversity and compassion are our nation’s greatest strengths. And as Donald Trump tries to trample on the American Dream, we will continue to fight for the immigrant families who contribute to our country every day.”
