DNC Chair Statement on House Republicans Creating a Committee to Investigate Planned Parenthood

Washington, D.C. – DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement today in response to House Republicans creating a committee to investigate Planned Parenthood:

“Using taxpayer dollars to advance an extreme right wing agenda is apparently the trend for House Republicans these days. Just last week, Kevin McCarthy admitted that political attacks were the purpose of the Benghazi committee, and now House Republicans are creating a new committee to attack women’s health care. But they’re not the only ones. Just yesterday, GOP presidential candidates Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz revealed that they too want taxpayer money to go towards attacking Planned Parenthood, and the rest of the field is cheering on Congress to waste time attempting to limit access to women’s health. Instead of launching another wasteful and costly fight, House Republicans and their field of presidential candidates ought to start listening to women, and working on the true priorities of the American people, which include building the cornerstones of a middle class life.”
