Following the news of a mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas where at least 20 people were killed, DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:

“I'm heartbroken by the horrific shooting in Texas. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Sutherland Springs and all those affected by this unspeakable tragedy.

“No American should ever be afraid to worship. No family should ever face the unbearable pain that too many American families are feeling today. In the last 35 days, we've witnessed two of the worst mass shootings in American history. We cannot allow those who wish us harm to so easily turn their hatred into violence. And we must be united in working to ensure that these tragedies become a relic of the past rather than routine.”

Luego de conocerse la noticia de un tiroteo masivo en una iglesia de Sutherland Springs, Texas en donde al menos 20 personas fueron asesinadas, el Director de Comité Nacional Demócrata, Tom Pérez, realizó las siguientes declaraciones:

“Estoy desconcentrado por este horrible incidente en Texas. Nuestros pensamientos y oraciones están con los habitantes de Sutherland Springs y todos los que hayan podido ser afectados por esta tragedia indescriptible.

“Ninguna persona debería tener miedo de ir a la iglesia. Ninguna familia debería sufrir el dolor que demasiadas familias de los Estados Unidos sufren hoy en día. En los pasados 35 días hemos sido testigos de dos de los peores tiroteos masivos en nuestra historia; no podemos permitir que quienes nos quieren hacer daño puedan tan fácilmente convertir su ira en violencia. Debemos permanecer unidos y trabajar para asegurar que estas tragedias se conviertan en algo del pasado en vez de algo rutinario.”
