DNC Chair Statement on the Passing of Beau Biden
May 31, 2015
Washington, D.C. – DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement on the passing of Beau Biden:
“It is difficult to find the words to adequately express my sincerest condolences to the Biden family on learning of the untimely passing of Beau Biden.
“Tonight, our country lost a committed public servant, someone who devoted his own life to making the lives of others better. Beau was steadfast in his defense of our principles, whether as a member of the Delaware National Guard or as the state's Attorney General.
“But for all his professional accomplishments and his work on behalf of the people of Delaware, it is the personal loss for the Biden family that most saddens me at this time. Cancer has stolen from them a son, a brother, a husband, and a father. A loss like this always feels too soon, but especially so in this case. I had the privilege of knowing Beau personally. He was a “mensch” in the truest sense of the word and I am heartbroken for his family.
“The loss of Beau Biden is a loss for our nation. My thoughts and prayers are with Hallie, Natalie, Hunter, Joe, Jill, and the entire Biden family at this difficult time.”
