DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement in response to the presidential election in Taiwan:

“We congratulate Taiwan on the historic election of Dr. Tsai Ing-wen – the nation’s first female president and a champion for peace and stability. We look forward to working with President Dr. Tsai Ing-wen to continue to promote democracy and to strengthen the bonds between the United States and the Taiwanese people.”
