DNC Chair Statement on Trump’s Use of Star of David in Offensive Tweet
July 5, 2016
WASHINGTON – DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement on Donald Trump’s anti-Semitic tweet, which originated on a white supremacist blog:
“This is not a stand-alone incident, and Donald Trump ought to come clean with the American people. The fact is that throughout this campaign, Donald Trump has exhibited a pattern of deeply troubling behavior including failing to disavow David Duke, dismissing concerns of Jewish reporters who have been harassed by his supporters, making offensive, stereotypical comments about Jewish leaders at an event, and tweeting out coded anti-Semitic appeals. Trump has gone so far with language that pits Americans against one another that he is credited with reviving the white nationalist movement in the United States, and that is perhaps the most potent proof that he lacks the temperament and has disqualified himself from holding the office of President of the United States.”
