DNC Chair Statement on Vice-Chair Gabbard’s Resignation
February 28, 2016
WASHINGTON — “Today I accepted Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard's resignation as a Vice-Chair of the DNC. The Democratic National Committee is grateful for her service. As one of the first female combat veterans to serve in Congress and the first American Samoan and Hindu member of Congress, Congresswoman Gabbard is a role model who embodies the American ideal that anyone can dream big and make a difference. She is also a colleague in Congress and a friend, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside her when our Party unites behind whoever emerges as our nominee.
“Democratic voters all across the country have shown great enthusiasm for our candidates throughout this campaign. Our two candidates have turned out nearly as many voters and caucus-goers, more in Nevada in fact, as the much larger field of Republican candidates. That's because they have the right priorities — priorities that match the values, hopes and dreams of the American people. Together we will win in November and elect a Democrat to the White House to keep America moving forward.”
