WASHINGTON — DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on the results of the Virginia Democratic Primary:

“Congratulations to Ralph Northam on his victory in the Virginia Governor’s primary, and to all our Democratic candidates who eagerly joined the fight to hold Republicans accountable and build an economy that works for everyone, not just billionaires and millionaires like Donald Trump. Northam is ready to fight to make sure that every Virginian has access to affordable health care, a quality education, and a job that pays a decent wage. While Northam is fighting for the issues that keep Americans up at night, Donald Trump and Republicans are working to strip health care away from millions and reverse the progress made by Governor McAuliffe on issue after issue.  

“This is an election on our values. And I’m confident that if we make our voices heard by organizing at a grassroots level, we will be unstoppable. There has never been a more critical time for Virginia families and that’s why we won’t back down. We will not stop fighting for hardworking families and neither will Northam.”
