DNC Chair Travels to Orlando to Meet with the Puerto Rican Community
May 31, 2018
Yesterday, Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez traveled to Florida to meet with Puerto Rican community leaders, state elected officials, members of Congress from Florida, students and recent arrivals from the island. Perez was proud to announce that the Florida Democratic Party was the recipient of a $100,000 State Party Innovation Fund (SPIF) grant, which will be used to expand engagement efforts with Puerto Rican voters across the state in 2018 and beyond. Perez’s trip comes on the heels of a recently released study that estimated the death toll from Hurricane Maria is significantly higher than the official government tally.
