DNC Congratulates Nominees in Virginia’s Democratic Primaries

DNC Chair Tom Perez issued the following statement on today’s Democratic primary elections in Virginia:

“Congratulations to all of the winners in today’s Democratic primaries in Virginia. Thanks to the impressive slate of nominees from today’s primary races, our historic victories across the Commonwealth in the 2017 elections, and the legislative accomplishments of Virginia Democrats in 2018, we’re hitting the ground running to re-elect Senator Tim Kaine and elect Democrats all over Virginia in November.

“Last year, we made history in Virginia. We put Ralph Northam in the Commonwealth’s Executive Mansion, elected Justin Fairfax as the second African American lieutenant governor in the state’s history, re-elected Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring, and flipped 15 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates from red to blue. Since those historic victories, Democrats in Virginia have already accomplished so much, including expanding Medicaid to 400,000 Virginians. And Virginia Democrats are just getting started.

“The DNC was proud to invest $1.5 million in the Virginia coordinated campaign to help secure those historic victories in 2017, and we look forward to continuing to partner with the Democratic Party of Virginia to keep working to elect Democrats up and down the ticket, across the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
