DNC Southern Regional Press Secretary Enrique Gutiérrez released the following statement after Arkansas removed almost 4,400 Medicaid recipients from its program after implementing work requirements approved by the Trump administration:

“Governor Hutchinson and the Trump administration are purposely taking health care coverage away from thousands of Arkansans. For the almost 4,400 Arkansans who are currently facing hardship, they now have to worry about how they’re going to pay for their next doctor’s visit. Hutchinson’s decision to implement Trump-backed work requirements sets a devastating precedent. No one should ever be denied health care. Democrats believe health care is a right and not just for those who can afford it. We will continue to fight to get all Americans the access to the quality, affordable health care they deserve and bring change this November.”
