DNC on CHC Leadership Elections
November 30, 2018
DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:
“Congratulations to the newly elected leadership team of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Rep. Joaquin Castro (TX-20) is a proven leader, an effective legislator, and a tireless champion for Democratic values. As chair of the CHC, he’s going to work side by side with First Vice Chair Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-07), Second Vice Chair Rep. Nanette Barragán (CA-44), Whip Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), and Freshman Representative Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-16) to stand up to the Trump administration and fight for the American people. The CHC’s contributions are needed now more than ever as the Trump administration and congressional Republicans continue to attack the civil rights and voting rights of Hispanic and Latino communities across the country.
“I’d like to thank Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) for her service during such a critical time in the CHC’s history. And I look forward to working with the new leadership team as we work to grow the Democratic Party, pave the way for the next generation of diverse leaders in our party, and build a brighter future for all Americans.”
