DNC on Democratic Primary Victories Tonight

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on today's primary elections in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, and Texas:

“Congratulations to all the new Democratic nominees across the South, and to all of our candidates for races well run. With just 24 weeks to go until Election Day, it’s clear that enthusiasm for Democrats continues to surge. The DNC is excited to work with our state parties to keep energizing voters as we elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November.

“In Texas, we saw a record number of Democratic candidates run for office this year, and today’s results made it clear that Texans want more women to represent them, including Lupe Valdez, Gina Ortiz Jones, Lorie Burch, Mary Jennings Hegar and Lizzie Pannill Fletcher. In Georgia, Democrats are uniting behind Stacey Abrams, whose plan to fully fund public education and expand Medicaid will carry her to victory and make her America’s first African-American woman governor. In Kentucky, Democrats chose Amy McGrath, a retired military pilot, to represent them in the 6th Congressional District, and in Arkansas, Democrats are poised to flip even more Republican-controlled seats by fighting for hardworking families.

“All of these outstanding nominees are harnessing the grassroots energy in their states and leading with Democratic values. And that’s why they’re going to march to victory in November.”
