DNC on Donald Trump Attacking Ben Jealous and Maryland Values
September 7, 2018
During a rally in Montana last night, Donald Trump attacked Ben Jealous for his proposal to make community college tuition-free for all Marylanders, including Dreamers. DNC Northeast Regional Press Secretary Elizabeth Renda released the following statement in response:
“It’s never been more clear that Ben Jealous has Republicans like Donald Trump and Larry Hogan running scared. Last night, Trump took time out of his rally in Billings, Montana to specifically attack Jealous, a gubernatorial nominee running for office 2,000 miles away in Maryland. With his plan to make community college tuition-free for all Marylanders, including Dreamers, Jealous is standing up for Maryland’s values of inclusion, diversity, and opportunity for all. Jealous has proven time and again that he has the courage to lead with a bold agenda that goes to bat for Maryland’s working families. And while Jealous is clearly willing to stand up to Trump to protect Maryland values, Hogan has shown that he’s simply not up to the job. Hogan has yet to return the $100,000 he raised during a Maryland Republican Party fundraiser hosted by Trump. It’s time for Hogan to stop ducking and dodging and clarify once and for all whether he will continue to welcome Trump's help in his campaign.”
