DNC spokesperson Vedant Patel released the following statement on President Donald Trump’s meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc:

“An unwavering commitment to basic human rights at home and abroad is in the best interest of the United States. In this meeting, President Trump should urge the government of Vietnam to strengthen its commitment to human rights and release all prisoners of conscience.”
