In response to House Republicans holding a subcommittee hearing today on a bill to ban abortions after six weeks, DNC CEO Jess O’Connell released the following statement:

“Women don’t need Republicans in Congress telling us what to do with our bodies. This hearing is another dangerous and disgusting assault on women’s constitutional right to safe and legal reproductive health care. This latest attempt to deny critical care to women – many of whom may not even know they’re pregnant yet – doesn’t just threaten women’s rights, it also threatens the economic security of millions of hardworking families. When women don’t have control over their own future, our entire economy suffers.

“Democrats believe a woman’s health care decisions are between her and her doctor, and we will keep working tirelessly to protect and expand access to health services for all women across the country.”
