DNC Chair Jaime Harrison and DNC Ethnic Council Chair Jim Zogby issued the following joint statement for International Roma Day:

“This International Roma Day, we honor the contributions Romani-Americans have made to our nation. Romani-American culture and traditions make the United States stronger. The some one million Roma living in the United States are essential parts of their communities. 

“Today, the Democratic Party reaffirms its commitment to address the concerns of Romani-American communities. We also reaffirm our belief that no one — including Romani-Americans — should face hate or discrimination because of who they are. As we celebrate today, we will continue to protect Romani-American civil rights and liberties, fight for equity, and expand opportunity.”
