DNC on International Women’s Day
March 8, 2019
DNC CEO Seema Nanda and DNC Women’s Caucus Chair Lottie Shackelford released the following joint statement to commemorate International Women’s Day:
“This International Women’s Day, we have so much to celebrate — from the record number of diverse women elected to public office across the United States in 2018 to the women activists fighting for meaningful change in their communities around the world. Brave women across the globe give us countless reasons to be hopeful for the future. While we celebrate today, we also take this time to remind ourselves of how much we have at stake and recommit ourselves to the critical work that lies ahead. Today, and every day, we are proud to be the party that champions women, and we will never stop fighting to empower them at home and abroad. Women are the backbone of our party, and we will continue to stand in solidarity with women around the world marching for the equality they deserve.”
