DNC on Iowa Primary Elections

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on today's primary election in Iowa:

“Congratulations to all of tonight’s Democratic nominees. Iowa voters have an opportunity to change the direction of their state’s leadership, and today they showed up in record numbers to make their voices heard and support a diverse slate of Democratic candidates who will fight for their values. Congratulations as well to the Iowa Democratic Party and activists for holding a substantive, issues-based primary that fostered inclusion and ensured every candidate and every Iowa community was given a voice in this process.

“The DNC was proud to invest $90,000 in the Iowa Democratic Party to help strengthen their efforts to engage and organize voters around the state. We look forward to continuing to partner with the IDP to lift candidates to victory up and down the ticket, including tonight’s nominees like Fred Hubbell, Abby Finkenauer, Cindy Axne, and J.D. Sholten, all of whom have a shot at flipping Republican-held seats from red to blue. Iowa voters are hungry for Democratic leadership. They know Democrats have their backs and share their values. And they’re ready to organize in every ZIP code and turn more seats blue in 2018.”
