In response to the Senate Judiciary Committee passing bipartisan legislation to protect the Special Counsel’s investigation, DNC deputy communications director Adrienne Watson released the following statement:

“Today a bipartisan group of senators took an important and necessary step forward in protecting the Special Counsel’s investigation from Trump’s obstruction. However, McConnell has refused to allow this bill to come to the floor for a vote. This is an extreme dereliction of duty and McConnell’s refusal to stand up for the rule of law will go down as a shameful new low in Republicans’ ongoing efforts to provide cover for Trump.
