DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on the ninth anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature legislative achievement:

“It is an undeniable fact that the Affordable Care Act has saved lives and made our country stronger. Thanks to Democratic leadership, millions of Americans have access to quality, affordable health care; insurance companies can no longer discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions; and more than 55 million women have gained access to no co-pay contraception.

“But President Trump and Republicans in Congress haven’t let go of their obsession with destroying the law and ripping health care away from Americans. All we have seen from this administration is two years of senseless sabotage.

“Democrats believe health care is a right for all. And we will keep fighting tooth and nail to protect the ACA and expand coverage for more Americans.”
