DNC on President Trump’s Visit to Nevada
June 23, 2018
In advance of President Trump’s remarks at the Nevada GOP Convention and his attendance at a high-dollar fundraiser for Trump-Pence rubber stamp Dean Heller, DNC spokesperson Vedant Patel released the following statement:
“It's fitting that on the one-year anniversary of Senator Dean Heller’s disingenuous press conference promising to protect health care for Nevada families, President Trump is rewarding Senator Heller with a fancy high-dollar fundraiser for his work as a loyal rubber stamp for this administration. Whether it's supporting the repeated attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, or ushering in a reckless tax plan that will raise taxes on average for low and middle-income Nevadans by 2027 — Senator Heller has been focused in Washington on supporting President Trump, not standing up for his constituents.
“If that wasn’t enough, during his trip President Trump is going to be headlining the Nevada Republican State Party Convention where he’ll be speaking the praises of gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt. Laxalt is a bought-and-paid-for puppet for wealthy special-interest donors, who have used the attorney general's office to do their bidding and push an extreme agenda that the Trump administration would be proud of.
“Democrats will continue to hold accountable Trump, Heller, Laxalt and any other members of the GOP who have sold out the American people and betrayed working families in order to line the pockets of billionaires and corporations.”
