DNC on Ramadan
April 1, 2022
DNC Chair Jaime Harrison and DNC Interfaith Council Co-Chairs Nadia Ahmad, Cindy Bass, Sarah Levin, and Johnnie Roebuck issued the following joint statement ahead of the start of Ramadan:
“Ramadan Mubarak. As Muslims across the country and around the world celebrate the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan this weekend, it is extraordinary to note how far we have come. For the first time in two years, many families and communities will once again be able to sit down for iftar together. Mosques will once again brim with worshipers, praying shoulder to shoulder in tarawih. Muslims also center charitable giving for the needy and indigent during this time. The traditions of Ramadan serve to replenish the soul.
During this month commemorating the revelation of the Quran, it is so significant that Muslim Americans across the nation can gather safely for ibadat and reflection. The Democratic Party will always support and uplift our Muslim American neighbors and friends.”
