DNC on Rosh Hashanah
September 18, 2020
DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:
“A new year is a time for reflection, repentance, and renewal. It is a chance to rededicate ourselves to the work of building a better world for all. On Rosh Hashanah, we celebrate the values that bind Jewish Americans and the Democratic Party l’dor v’dor, from generation to generation: pursuing justice, welcoming the stranger, performing acts of loving kindness, treating our neighbors with dignity, affirming our bonds with Israel and the pursuit of peace in the Middle East, and being our brothers’ and our sisters’ keepers.
“We know that the beginning of this year is different for the Jewish community, as this period is for each of us. The COVID-19 pandemic is leading many synagogues and congregations to gather virtually and mark these High Holidays in different ways. Yet, what remains unchanged is our shared hope for a year of joy, peace, and progress. Shanah Tovah to all who celebrate — may you have a happy, healthy, sweet 5781.”
