DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the Senate voted to block President Trump’s national emergency declaration:

“Let’s be clear: there is no national emergency on the border, and the American people don’t want a wall. Now the United States Congress, including the Republican-controlled Senate, has deemed Donald Trump’s emergency declaration an unconstitutional power grab. Today’s vote is yet another humiliating defeat for a spiraling presidency. The time has come for Trump to admit defeat, permanently shelve his vanity project, and start working with Democrats to reform our  immigration system.”
