DNC on South Carolina Primary Results

DNC Vice Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement after the South Carolina primaries:

“Congratulations to my home state of South Carolina on a hugely successful primary night, and congratulations to the excellent roster of Democrats moving on to November. I was thrilled to see my friend James Smith win the Democratic nomination for governor. James is a father, veteran, and consummate public servant — exactly the type of leader we need to fight for South Carolinians.

“For too long Republicans like Henry McMaster have abdicated their responsibilities to South Carolinians in favor of special interests and self-serving goals. Clearly, they’ve lost the support of the Palmetto State. Meanwhile, enthusiasm for Democratic candidates is soaring, with Democratic early voting numbers up by more than 80% over 2014 and Democrats outperforming Republicans statewide. It’s yet another sign that lackluster Republican leadership isn’t working for South Carolina and the people are ready for change.”
