DNC on the 2nd Anniversary of the El Paso Shooting

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement on the 2nd anniversary of the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas which targeted Latinos and took the lives of 23 people.

“Two years ago, my heart broke as I learned about the 23 lives taken in the deadliest attack on Latinos in modern American history. We share in the grief of those families who lost their loved ones that day, share in the hurt of the violence and bigotry that fueled this tragedy, and stand with the strong and resilient community of El Paso.

“We must find comfort in remembering the exceptional lives each of the people who were taken from us that day lived and their impacts on those around them, like the educators who worked tirelessly for our children and the U.S. Army veteran who served our country with honor. May their stories continue to inspire us to stand together in the face of hate and violence, and to forge ahead on the necessary work to pass commonsense gun safety legislation.”
