DNC Vice Chair and New York Assembly Member Michael Blake released the following statement following the arrest of Republican Rep. Chris Collins (NY-27) for alleged securities fraud:  

“Nobody is above the law. The arrest of Republican Rep. Chris Collins is not only embarrassing for our home state of New York, it highlights the culture of corruption polluting the Republican Party. Collins is accused of using insider information to enrich his family and friends, following a widespread pattern of grifting by other Trump officials and allies.

“At a time when Republicans in Congress are touting a tax scam that enriched the top 1% and corporations, Democrats are fighting for hardworking families who are being left behind by Republican policies. The people of New York deserve better than the brazen corruption of Chris Collins, and Democrats look forward to helping elect Democrat Nate McMurray in November.”
