In response to today’s public testimony from Bill Taylor and George Kent, DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement:

“Today, the American people heard firsthand about Trump’s gross abuse of power. They heard directly from two patriots who corroborated that Trump extorted a foreign government to interfere in our election. And they heard how Trump endangered our national security for his own political gain.

“If Republicans believe the president has the right to bully foreign countries into interfering in our elections on his behalf, they should go ahead and say so. At this point, the GOP motto might as well be ‘party over country.’

“Americans deserve better. They deserve free and fair elections; affordable health care and prescription drugs; and a president who looks out for them instead of himself. That’s what Democrats are fighting for, and the American people know it.”
