DNC on Trump Administration Denying Asylum to Victims of Domestic Violence

DNC Women’s Media Director Elizabeth Renda released the following statement on Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ announcement that the Department of Justice will no longer consider domestic violence or gang violence grounds for asylum:

“Once again, the Trump administration has turned its back on women. Turning away vulnerable women and their children who are fleeing to the United States to escape domestic violence does not represent American values, and it’s flat-out shameful. This is the same morally bankrupt administration that defended Rob Porter, endorsed Roy Moore, pardoned Joe Arpaio, and shielded Steve Wynn. Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions have made it clear that this administration won’t work to defend women against violence and harassment. Democrats will never stop fighting to protect women against the dangerous, reprehensible actions of the Trump administration.”
