In response to Trump’s Department of Labor indicating it intends to allow restaurant owners to pool tips and potentially steal them from employees, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:

“Instead of fighting to ensure workers take home the income they earn, Trump is finding new ways to make it harder for workers to make a livable wage. This proposed rule would even open the door for businesses to steal tips from employees and pocket them for themselves. American workers deserve better. That is why Democrats will continue fighting for a fair living wage for all workers. We believe in ending the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers so that they have every opportunity to get ahead, and stay ahead.”
