DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the Trump administration officially began the process to formally withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord:

“Donald Trump has signed away our future. This decision is an insult to humanity and an embarrassment for our country. Climate change is an urgent threat to our health, our security, our prosperity, and the future of our planet. But this president only cares about one thing: himself.

“Democrats believe we must take bold action to combat climate change. That’s what President Obama was doing when he signed the Paris Accord, and that’s what Democrats will keep doing every day – showing America and Donald Trump what true leadership looks like.”
