In response to the Trump administration announcing new guidance on waivers that could allow states to expand plan offerings that don’t include pre-existing condition protections, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:

“Trump and Republicans have repeatedly taken steps to undermine and even eliminate pre-existing condition protections. Now, Trump continues his sabotage by chipping away at the requirements for Affordable Care Act waivers in order to let states expand plan offerings that do not include these and other vital protections. No matter what they say, it is clear that Trump and Republicans won’t protect people with pre-existing conditions from insurers that otherwise would refuse to cover them or would charge them more. Voters know the truth — they can see it with their own eyes — and they will make their voices heard this November.”
