DNC on Trump Signing Russian Sanctions
August 2, 2017
In response to President Trump signing the sanctions bill he opposed, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:
“This is a loss for President Trump and a win for patriotic Americans who value our democracy and expect their leaders to protect it. Most presidents hold ceremonies to sign their first major piece of legislation. President Trump had to retreat behind closed doors to put his signature on a bill that rebukes his reckless refusal to hold Putin accountable. By passing this bill with veto-proof majorities, Congress united around a common idea: this President can’t be trusted to act in the best interests of our country when it comes to Russia.”
